'twas my birfday on satreeday. it coincided with the CG/CH party at the pleasure palace.  this time i got in the pool and boy was it worth it.  there was an inflatable orca.  there were bewbs both naked and scantily clad.  there was hot girl on girl action.  then there was some slightly less hot boy near boy sleeping when nar and i passed out in my bed whilst remnants of the party raged its way through my house (claiming not 1 but 2 lamps).

p.p.p.p.s. also, some savage destroyed 2 bird things in our front yard.  hopefully the wasp nest in the bird house wrought its unholy vengeance upon the perpetrator.

p.s. our eldest cat Lolly got into a bit of a scrape yesterday... with a PLANT!  IN HER EYE!!!

here we are at the vet.  it was the 3rd one we'd been to that day.  our regular vet was closed, the one down the street from that one was closing but they referred us to an emergency clinic with an eye specialist. 

also, this strange lady who did not work there and apparently didn't have any pets currently at the vet, began to harass us with information about the same place we'd already been referred to.  she even went as far as to open my car door and continue talking to me after i thought we were done talking in the parking lot, which had already been the second venue for this conversation.

anywho, we got to the clinic (with the old lady still clinging to our car screaming "THIS IS THE PLACE I WAS TELLING YOU ABOUT!!!") and the eye specialist was going to cost $400, which was $100 more than usual because it was after five... two minutes after five to be specific.  luckily, the non-eye specialists were at a desk just a few feet from those proverbial highway robbers.

it turns out, the malady was a foxtail that had embedded itself in our poor cat's eyeball.  no, not the toy everyone remembers fondly, but rather the chunk of grass seed that embeds itself in things.  well, to be honest, they don't actually do anything, but rather the movement of animate bodies cause the foxtail to burrow into them.  fucking evolution...

 

and after my former debate coach's son (the vet) removed said object from lol's ol' eye socket, they gave her a head-cone and in exchange took her once proud demeanor.  she slept for the remainder of the evening when it became clear to her, after bumping the cone into things once easily avoided, that life was no longer worth living if awake.

it pained the wife and me to see her like that, but as good parents, we knew that ultimately this was the best thing for her.  but then we were all like, "fuck it" and took it off this morning.

with our day off, the wife and i took a trip up to east canyon reservoir.  there were lots of recently shorn sheep which made the most noise of anything up there.

we drank beers, ate cherries and chillaxed. 

i also smoked tobacco cigarettes, which is becoming e'er more expensive and looked down upon by society at large.  that same society, spent the better part of my first 20 years telling me how cool and happy i'd be if i just picked up a pack and enjoyed the bold, refreshing taste of burning tobacco leaves.  then, after i was "hooked", they started an unremitting campaign of derision and mean-spirited fear instillment.  thanks, society!  at least i can still smoke in my backyard, where ponds and cats offer no judgment.

as mentioned in my wife's post, bubbeh the kitteh climbs our newly installed window screen (thanks, honey!) and clings there until we let her in.  and when i say we, i mean brook, which changes the tense of the verb to lets.  anywho, it's both cute and irritating, which is a pretty good description of things pets and children do.

p.s.s. remember the movie Nothing But Trouble?  I do, and i remember it being very weird.  after watching it again last night, i can confirm that it is and was indeed weird.  but also kind of awesome.  taylor negron is arguably the best part of the film yet his role is a small one and like many plot elements, he disappears for a large part of the film with little elaboration or clarification.  dan aykroyd directed the film and it's no wonder he was never allowed to do that to movies ever again.  although it has its funny and weird moments, as a movie it is constructed poorly and many of the musical choices have received very harsh treatment by time's passing.  tupac is in there somewhere, "rocking" the "house", as it were, with the Digital Underground.  Although Dan Aykroyd's character's character traits share most everything from a bygone era, apparently racism managed to fade away as homicidal rage towards bankers came into focus.  anywho, despite its faults, the movie is still worth a netflixin' and invite you all to do as such.
